I'm interested in educational research and involving undergraduates in meaningful research experiences as part of their regular coursework. I've taught an introductory biology course using nematode-finding and characterization as the laboratory and a research intensive molecular biology course where students cloned genes. Other courses I teach include bioinformatics, genetics, human genetics. Previously, I studied nematode development (post-doc with Jeff Hardin), and radiation resistance of tumor cells (graduate work with Adrienne Cox). My research students at UMW have primarily investigated nematode diversity. I'm excited to join the phage world this year.
