How strange! This does sound like a network issue, but I’m not sure. Regardless, I’m glad you’re able to access it now.

Best,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the quick response!
I was chatting with the tech help desk at pitt. The tech expert walked me through several things. He suspected that the problem has something to do with my home wifi. But he wasn't able to solve the problem in the end after all the attempts. I saved a copy of our chat, which is attached to this post for your reference.
So I decided to try Phamerator one more time before going to bed, and it's working! I'm very glad that it's working for me now. But I really don't know how the problem is fixed.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble. We aren't aware of any problems with Phamerator.org, but if you can tell me a little more about the error message you are receiving I'm happy to look into it. The Google listing is a bit misleading, for sure. You can disregard the Wifi error message.

Best,
Steve

I have not been able to get Phamerator to work since yesterday. When I try to google search phamerator, the search result seems to suggest that I'm not connected to WiFi (please see attached for the screenshot), but I actually do have a working WiFi.
Can someone please help?

Hi everyone,

I think this should be fixed now, but I would appreciate it if someone who was having trouble could check and let me know. (It was always working fine for me so I don't have an easy way to test.)

Thanks,
Steve

It did get taken down due to a technical issue. Although it might resurface eventually, that certainly won't happen in time for Fall 2019.

Julia Lee
Thanks for checking. Our class ended for today, but I will do what Chris suggested the next time we meet.

I restarted Phamerator on the server this afternoon because of a problem someone else was having, and that resolved it for them. With any luck, this fixed the issue for you as well.

Hi Julia, are things working for you now?

Hi Andrea,

I have updated Phamerator.org and it should now match what you see on PhagesDB.org. You might need to reload the site in order to see the change.

Best,
Steve

Hi Dana,

Yes, the app has been completely rewritten. We pulled the old versions from the store because an update to Google Maps meant that we could no longer use their service in the way we had been. We are attempting to submit a new version today for both Android and iOS. The Android process is quick, but it can take several days for Apple to post the app update on their store. I'll post again here once the updates are live.

If your students are collecting samples in the meantime, you might just want to ask them to record the location of their samples for later entry into the app.

Best,
Steve

Hi Steve,
One of my students tried to use the SEA-PHAGES app, but was unsuccessful. The student tried to register for an account using phages.db (as specified in the discovery manual) and was not able to get an account. I looked up the app in the Apple store, and it's no longer listed. We also looked on an android device and it's not listed in the apps there either.

Is the app being revamped?

Thanks,
Dana Pape-Zambito
