Recently I ran a trial on several strains of K. Pneumo with suspected suppressor mutations. I made 6 lawns of the bacteria and tested 8 phage I isolated on each agar plate to see if these phage, which usually kill the normal strain of K. Pneumo, interact with the suppressor mutation strain. Instead of having a plaque or no plaques, some of the plates had hazy circles where the plaques would usually be. We suspect it could be ‘killing from without’, but we aren’t sure. Attached below are the photos of this trial. Any insight helps.
