Recently I ran a trial on several strains of K. Pneumo with suspected suppressor mutations. I made 6 lawns of the bacteria and tested 8 phage I isolated on each agar plate to see if these phage, which usually kill the normal strain of K. Pneumo, interact with the suppressor mutation strain. Instead of having a plaque or no plaques, some of the plates had hazy circles where the plaques would usually be. We suspect it could be ‘killing from without’, but we aren’t sure.
