DNAMaster BLAST failure

| posted 11 May, 2018 12:16
There are 103 genes for Sonali. When we BLAST we receive 20 results and the rest of the genes return "There are no BLAST results for this feature".
The BLAST freezes before it finishes and we have tried it several times. The report that eventually populates has lines like the following. Is this a complete BLAST that just has very few hits? Why are the feature numbers greater than our feature list?
Thanks!

Hi Tammy,
I have never seen that error before. I recommend trying a partial batch BLAST– 10 to 20 genes or so at a time, and then saving after each successful one.

Good luck!

When I BLAST 1 gene at a time, I get OLE 8040152.
How do you limit the BLAST to a set of genes?
Thanks.

Also, my previous question about entering the locus tags, was not about where to enter, but about adding the underscore. The underscore _ will not enter in the locus tag box, so it enters as SEAELESAR instead of SEA_ELESAR. Just checking the details…thanks.

And..I found the instructions in the new guide for BLASTING a subset. I'll try that.

Great!
Check the override box to the right of the locus tag field and you should be able to enter the underscore.

Is anyone else having this problem?
I tried several different sets of genes and even another genome and I keep getting this error. Did something change on the server settings?

Are you using the HTTPS setting to connect to NCBI? Have you tried the same file on a different computer?
