Dr. D'Amico-Willman is currently a postdoc at North Carolina State University and will be co-teaching Phage Hunters with Dr. Stephanie Mathews in Fall 2024/Spring 2025. She earned her PhD from Ohio State University in 2021 with a focus in plant genetics. For her postdoc, Dr. D'Amico-Willman has enthusiastically embraced the world of phage, with a focus on phage associated with plant pathogenic bacteria. She is thrilled to teach this course and hopefully spark some curiosity and excitement among students for scientific exploration.

NC State offers phage hunters as a one semester "Phage Discovery" course - phage isolation, genome sequencing and genome annotation - in one fall semester. One faculty member and one TA deliver the course through the NCSU Biotechnology Program. Primary literature is reviewed, oral presentations are made, and an optional opportunity to present at the spring Undergraduate Research Symposium is provided. And it's all fun!
