HIT Family Protein

| posted 10 Nov, 2021 20:38
Hello all,

I am undergraduate student currently working on an annotation for the F1 phage "Rita." One gene, from 40872 bp - 41237 bp, has "HIT family protein" assigned to the same pham in other mycobacterium. However, HIT family protein is not an approved function for phage genes. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether or not I should assign this function to the gene.
Thank you!

HI!
Search the Approved Funnction list for "HIT domain" and you will find "histidine triad nucleotide binding protein" as a good choice for what to call this protein.
Make sense?
Thanks for the inquiry,
debbie
