Hi Debbie, Thanks for the response. Has there been any updates on the completion of the renovations of DNA Master? We still can't get it to update without the FTP failure notice. Thanks, Katie |

Hi everyone- I have the same question as sheninger. Unfortunately, DNA Master was erased from our school computers over Spring Break. Our IT tried to re-install it. They are running into the following problems: 1) DNA Master will not update because it says FTP Failure 2) We cannot bypass the FTP failure issue as described in the installation guide because we are missing some of the tabs in the preferences 3) Our IT cannot download using the workaround described by Kristen above because our institution won't let us download from a One Drive folder Can anyone please advise? Thanks Joe and Debbie. Yes, originally, we did not record any functions in the function fields via the Description tab. I like students to keep all that in an Excel file. However, I added it in manually and then moved it and cleared the fields as noted in directions of preparing the minimal file for final submission. Thanks! I just couldn't remember if I added the function in the description tab in the past one by one. For some reason, I thought it populated from the BLAST and was lost for a second of how to get them added before moving them. But, Joe cleared it up yesterday…Thanks again! |

I am preparing my final files for submission and I re-blasted the entire genome. However, about 9 genes are not blasting within DNA Master. I even just BLASTed the single gene in DNA Master and after 20 minutes…still nothing and it appears to just stop. When I copy the sequence into NCBI BLAST on the website directly, I get hits immediately. I'm not sure why this is happening. I didn't have these issues in January when I BLASTed the entire genome then. Not sure what I should do about this for the final submission files… |

I have a similar issue/question. In preparing the final file for submission, the function field is blank from the beginning. Therefore, when I go to prepare the minimal file, there is nothing to copy and paste and then delete. Also, as Joe commented, I don't remember inserting the functions one by one and then moving them according to the final file instructions. Am I missing something? Do I leave it blank? Thanks for your help! - Katie |
