I have been lecturing in the School of Life Sciences, UNLV for 12 years and rotate into introductory majors and non-majors biology, microbiology for health majors, molecular genetics and when needed, a graduate course in molecular biology techniques. I have developed undergraduate curricula, participated in the SoLS academic assessment activities and have served as a member of graduate, preliminary exam and Honors theses committees. I have attended workshops on RNAi technology, microarrays, bioinformatics and the HHMI Quantitative Undergraduate Biology Education and Synthesis Conference to keep abreast of the latest developments in biological research and education. I was the PI for two NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Sites, which supported 110 undergraduates ($1.1 million 2007-2016). I am the co-lead of the undergraduate research component of the NV EPSCoR Solar Energy-Water-Environment Nexus grant and my responsibilities include recruitment of undergraduates form all southern NSHE institutions and running the review panel.
